The 2017-2018 Hermann FFA Officer team attends many conferences and workshops to gain new skills and gain different ideas to bring back and implement in to the chapter. Pictured above, the officer team attended the LEAD Conference in Rolla, which is put on by past State Officers and is attended by teams across the state.

In the beginning of every school year, the Hermann FFA Officer Team puts on a Summer BBQ to welcome new members into the FFA. The new members get to enjoy a meal and time with the officers and play different games and activities to learn more about FFA and their classmates.

In the Floriculture class, students are taught the growing and marketing practices of the floriculture and horticulture industries. Students are taught to grow different plants, floral design and care, as well as how to market their products.

Every fall, the chapter hosts a Barnwarming Dance at the Stone Hill Winery. Picture here is the 2017 Barnwarming Court.

In the Greenhouse class, students get to get their hands dirty and grow the plants that are eventually sold at the school-hosted plant sale every spring. They work alongside the Hermann Garden Club and work to produce quality products for their buyers.

In efforts to give back to the community that supports them so much, FFA members traveled to local nursing homes to give out cookies and visit with the residents during the holiday season.

Every year, the chapter hosts an event called Barnyard Day. Members bring in different animals, tractors, trailers, or other demonstrative activities to show the local children more about agriculture. All the Hermann area elementary schools and day cares are invited and encouraged to partake in the events and activities.

The Hermann Trap Team practices at the Hermann Rod and Gun Club every fall. They practice shooting trap and compete in different competitions throughout the surrounding area. Pictured above is the Hermann A Team after they won Area FFA Championship.

Hermann FFA President Maddie Bader placed 3rd in the 2018 Missouri Association of Fairs and Festivals Speaking Contest.

Every October, FFA members across the country travel to the National FFA Convention in either Louisville, Kentucky or Indianapolis, Indiana. This year, members went to Indianapolis, where they got to attend different leadership seasons, go to a hypnotist show, watch Hermann Alum Morgan Laboube receive her National FFA Proficiency Award for being one of the top four agriculture students in Diversified Horticulture, tour a honey bee farm, and much more.
